Sri Rama Rajyam – Movie Review

Thursday, November 17, 2011, 16:49 [IST]
The names of Bapu, Ramana, Balakrishna, Akkineni Nageswara Rao and Ilayaraja are sufficient to arouse interest in a film. The talented team has come up with the mythological film Sri Rama Rajyam. Let us see how the final output has come out.

Story:
The director has done a good job by starting the film with the arrival of Rama and Sita to Ayodhya after vanquishing Ravan in Lanka. Rama is now the king of Ayodhya. Under his rule the people are happy and prosperous. Just when everything seems to be going fine, a comment by a washer man makes Rama to send Sita away into the forest. From here the real story of Sri Rama Rajyam begins. Sita is given shelter by Sage Valmiki. He keeps her identity a secret and looks after her as his own daughter. Sita gives birth to Lava and Kusha. Valmiki imparts knowledge to them and also teaches them how to use weapons (Artha Vidya). They also study Ramayana and Valmiki asks them to preach the story across the length and breadth of Ayodhya. At this juncture, Rama plans to conduct Ashwamedha Yagnam for the welfare of the people. What happens next should be seen on-screen.

Performance:
Balakrishna as lord Rama is simply superb. He carries the role with the necessary poise, dignity and intensity. Nayanatara as Sita is the perfect choice. She conveys emotions through her eyes beautifully. She is an asset to the film. ANR as sage Valmiki has done an excellent job. Srikanth as Lakshman is okay. KR Vijaya, Murali Mohan, Roja, Brahmanandam and others appear in brief roles and do their job as per the requirements of the script. The two children, who play the role of Lava and Kusha, are cute and suit their characters aptly.

Positive:
Good sets and costumes.
Good direction and screenplay.
Excellent music, graphics and cinematography.

Negative:
There are not many negatives in the film. There are a few minor blemishes but they can be overlooked. The film has a run length of nearly three hours but still it does not bore you at any point of time.

Analysis:
Sri Rama Rajyam is a feel good film that showcases our ancient culture, heritage and values. The way Bapu managed to make the film into a visual and musical delight is extraordinary. Sri Rama Rajyam has come at a right time and it is hoped that many such films will follow.

Verdict:
Sri Rama Rajyam has many positive things and it is a film that can give you an enriching experience while entertaining you in good measure. We must thank Bapu, Yelamnchali Sai Baba, Mullapudi, Ilayaraja, Balakrishna, ANR and Nayanatara for giving us a wonderful film.

This movie has changed my opinion on BAPU. He changed the story saying that hanuman was in the ashram with sita all the time. Graphics were pathetic. How could any one call it a GRAPHIC ORIENTED movie? The worst graphics I have ever seen. Coming to actors - none has created an impression that their acting could be compared to the old film. Leave Balakrishna. No one might have watched the movie because of him. I feel the movie failed in every aspect. It’s Just the hipe created by the industry. Ba

My dear friends, brothers, sisters, all youngsters, elders .... don't miss this movie. And don't think my comments are for publicity. Really everybody should watch. This movie refreshes our mind away from latest trend of movies which we are being pictured in such a way that we can't sit with our family members and watch. To all: Bapu garu, Balakrishna garu, Dr.Akkineni Nageswara Rao and Ilayaraja garu hats off. This type of movies increases respect on film industry. We need more........Bye.

yes! really this movie is a gift to present generation. Everybody knows about old movie "Lavakusha" and all might have watched long back. I agree. But r u ready to watch it now?? Surely no body will be ready to watch very few will say yes. Lavakusha is a wonderful movie too But we forgot the movie. Sri ramarajyam is a new Lavakusha which suits to present generation. Music, Action of Balakrishna, Nayanathara as Sita, Dr.ANR, and everybody has done very well. Music takes 50% success of this movie

This is a wonderful movie everybody should watch (atleast all telugu audience). No excuse. Better we avoid comparing with other movies. This film really reminds us the value / responsibility of each member of a family as a family member, our culture. Present world is going in such a way that we are least bothered about family values, culture, god and all historical beliefs. Thanks 2 entire unit of movie.
