Mogudu - Movie Review

Krishna Vamsi never makes films following the current trend. The filmmaker has his own set of likes and dislikes and he shows it clearly in all his films. His films often portray the virtues of a family and how a joint family with values is much important in the present day material world. Let"s see if Krishna Vamsi has continued this in his new film Mogudu.

Story:
Anjaneya Prasad (Rajendra Prasad) is a happy and contented man. He lives happily with his son Ram (Gopichand), three daughters, sons-in-law, and grandchildren in the same house. However, he has one wish unfulfilled that is to see his son marry and settle down in life. But Ram keeps delaying marriage, as he is apprehensive whether his wife will agree to live in a joint family. However, Ram finally relents after he comes across Raja Rajeswari (Tapsee Pannu). She is the daughter of politician Chamundeshwari (Roja) and Naresh. The marriage takes place but even before the newly weds can go home a small issue between the two families get blown out of proportion. As a result, the two families break up the marriage and part ways. Later, Ram and Rajeswari plans to go abroad for some time to overcome their grief. In a coincidence, the two of them head to the same place Mauritius.

The story now takes an interesting turn as Ram meets an old friend Shraddha Das. What is interesting is that Shraddha is smitten by Ram and she wants to marry him as his marriage with Rajeswari is on the rocks. However, the married couple reconciles their differences and marries in Mauritius. They come back to India only to face the wrath of their respective families. How they come out of the situation is the remaining part of the story.

Performance:
Gopichand is good both as a loving son as well as a lover and husband. He also gets to bash up a few bad guys a couple of times to please his fans. Tapsee Pannu is hot and she also does a good job in the acting department. Her dubbing though is a bit loud but she must be appreciated for trying hard to do a good job. Shraddha Das is hot and at the same time also showcases her acting skills. Rajendra Prasad excels in his role and proves that he can essay any type of character with ease. Roja is appropriate as a headstrong politician. Naresh fits the bill as a timid husband. Ahuthi is seen in a two-minute role. The rest do their bit as required.

Positive:
Good theme.
Performances of the lead actors.
A couple of songs.
Cinematography, Music and Direction.

Negative:
Slow pace.
Disjointed and erratic screenplay.
Lack of Krishna Vamsi's mark.
Too much mudslinging between the two families and resorting to street fights.
Tame and predictable ending.

Verdict:
Mogudu is a film that shows the values of a joint family, friendship, responsibility, love and affection, etc. Krishna Vamsi succeeds partly in his mission. The trademark Krishna Vamsi's style and magic is missing in the film. The movie may appeal family audience. Mogudu is a mixed bag and the fans of Krishna Vamsi will not be fully satisfied with it.

Some highlights of the movie. 1. You find the entire movie cast in all 14 reels. 2. In Hyderabad rich people drive Audi and Mercs on a temporary registrations. Sometimes without number plate. 3. Gopichand has the right to ride Harley Davidson without registration 4. Shots are so close-up that you can see nasal hair and Shraddha Das's dental plaque. First time on Indian cinema. 5. Tapsee can change her travel plans in the airport. She wanted to go UK but she can board Mauritius flight.

Nothing in the film exept over action by all the artists. Krishna vamsi do this project like any other his before projects. There is no story and the script is very weak. Songs were very dull and not appropiate to the situation.Tapsi did worst performance and did over exposing than required. No comedy and no performance by any artist and technitians too.
