Bendu Appa Rao (Allari Maresh) is a RMP doctor in a tiny village in East Godavari. Though he does not have much knowledge about medicines, he uses his brain to come out of critical situations. He earns money by all means as his sister faces torture in the hands of her husband (Krishna Bhagawan), as he could not pay the entire dowry to him. He maintains close relations and friendship with everyone in the village, which include a barber (Uttej), a tailor (Srinivasa Reddy), a washer man (LB Sriram) and a postman (Kondavalasa Lakshmana Rao).
Raja (Ahuti Prasad) is a landlord and Padma Priya (Kamna Jethmalani) is his only daughter. Padma falls in love with Appa Rao and the latter too loses his heart to her. Once, Appa Rao and his friends, while returning to village after watching a movie, find a grievously injured person called Sivaji. Before breathing his last, he pleads with Appa Rao to hand over Rs 15 lakh to his family. Despite lot of pressure from his friends to share the money among themselves, Appa Rao makes many efforts to hand over the money to Sivaji"s kin.
On learning that Sivaji"s parents are no more and sister had left the country after marrying a person, Appa Rao agrees to share the money between the tailor, barber and himself. He gives them Rs 2 lakh to each to settle their debts; he too takes a part of the money to settle his sister"s life. He utilizes the balance amount to construct a school building in the village and names it after Sivaji. However, Appa Rao makes everyone believe that they got a prize in lottery.
Accidentally, Sivaji"s parents and sister reach the village and Appa Rao comes to know the truth. He feels guilty as he had already spent the money. So, he mortgages his house to a local trader (Jeeva) and spends it for the bypass surgery of Sivaji"s father. He also promises to marry Sivaji"s sister. What happens to the love between Padma and Appa Rao? Did Sivaji marry Padma or Sivaji"s sister? Did the truth come out that Sivaji had paid him Rs 15 lakh? What kind of troubles did Appa Rao face after the revelation of truth? Answers to all these questions form part of the climax.
Allari Naresh has once again proven that he is very good at comedy. He has maintained perfect comedy timing and has shown good ease in dances as well. The emotional scenes picturised on him has came out perfectly. Kamna has got a very good role in this film. She has been shown in a romantic way and she too has shown good ease in dances. She has got a good opportunity to show her performance capabilities too. Once again Ahuti Prasad has got a very good role. His characterization is impressive and reminds the audiences of 'Chandamama". Other notable performers are LB Sriram. Srinivasa Reddy, Uttej are Kondavalasa Lakshmana Rao. The comedy track on Dharmavarapu Subrahmanyam and Ali are just okay and passable but truly not very much needed for the movement of the story. Sakuntala has perfectly replaced Nirmalamma and her performance is good to watch.
Cinematography by Jayaram is impressive. He has perfectly captured the beautiful locales in foreign countries and has also shown the same shrewdness in capturing the village atmosphere. Story, dialogues and script written by Giri, Veligonda Srinivas, Vegesna Satish and Mohan are okay. Music by Koti is not that impressive as none of the songs are catchy or none of the tunes is foot tapping. Even Kotihas failed in providing good background score as the music has failed to elevate any of the scenes. Gauthamraju"s editing is good in parts. Last but not the least, the screenplay and direction by EVV Satyanarayana is very impressive. Despite a thin storyline and delicate subject, the director has been able to perfectly blend the comedy, love and sentiment without giving any scope for boring scenes. Though he has lost grip on the film in a handful of scenes, he has been able to regain the grip and perfectly end the subject.
The director has been able to explain the mentality of the villagers. He has tried to highlight that the villagers, though having many problems in their families, would stand by their word and work for the welfare of others. Though there are certain lapses and cinematic twists in some scenes, as a whole the film is worth watching and the audiences would feel satisfied for the ticket they have purchased as they are sure of getting a hearty laugh from the word go till end.
