[an error occurred while processing this directive] SS Creations, which had produced successful films like Rao Garillu with Akkineni Nageswara Rao, Collectorgari Abbayi, Siva, Ramudochhadu with Nagarjuna and Gayam with Jagapatibabu, has brought out Pourudu with Sumant and Kaajal in the lead. Sumant, who played two family subjects like 'Godavari' and 'Classmates' tried to change his image and played an action hero in the movie.
Ajay (Sumant) completes his degree and gets ready for IAS examination. His father Pandu (Suman) is the right hand of the local mafia don Jakeer Bhai (Nazar). Kasi (Kota Srinivasa Rao) runs a rival gang in the same city opposite Jakeer Bhai. [an error occurred while processing this directive] Though Pandu behaves like a goon, Ajay concentrates on his studies and reaches to the stage of completing IAS preliminaries. At the same time, he is an expert in martial arts. Samyukta (Kaajal) is a student of a dance school and she falls in love with Ajay. At this juncture, Hussain (Subbaraju) takes charge as CI and he wants to nab Jakeer Bhai, Pandu and Kasi but could not do so due to their political influence. Once, Pandu thrashes Kasi's son and his men attack the former. Ajay, who is there at the scene, involves in the fight and saves his father. Hussain arrests both Pandu and Ajay. Accidentally, Pandu comes to know that Jakeer Bhai is a mafia don and is not a gentleman as he is expecting. Jakeer Bhai gets Pandu killed by Kasi and his son. Ajay quits his ambition to become an IAS officer and with the help of Hussain takes revenge against Kasi, his son and also Jakeer Bhai, who is the mastermind behind Pandu's death. Hussain makes everyone believe that all those, who are killed by Ajay died in a mafia gang war and helps Ajay to attend the IAS main exams as he wishes. The film ends on a happy note with the union of Samyukta and Ajay.
PLUS: Sumant has done justice to his role as an angry young man. He has maintained good balance in his body language and is good at histrionics. Kaajal has filled the glamour slot and she is very cute all through the film. She supports the hero's character well. Suman, Nazar, Kota, all the artists have done justice to their respective roles. Cinematography by Sudhakar Yekkanti is a highlight and dialogues by Marudhuri Raja are average. Debutant director Raaj Aditya maintained good suspense over the real villain. Though there is no much novelty in the story, the movement of the story was good.
MINUS: Music by Manisharma is just okay. Though a couple of songs are melodious and good to watch, it is really not up to the mark as far as re-recording. The poor storyline failed to impress the audience at all. Comedy by Ali and MS Narayana is boring, while Brahmanandam once again excells in giving good comedy. The director has failed to convince the audience by converting him into a goon in the second half, though in the name of revenge, as it is not his wont right from the beginning. In the first half, the hero continues to say that he is against violence and one should not take law into hands and in the second half does something against it.
REMARKS: Though the storyline is not much impressive, it is just a time pass film. Sumant, is able to achieve his idea, of changing his image from a soft and family hero to an action hero. The storyline is based on the theme – When society fails power will rise, when power fails, a man will rise. It is an okay film for those, who like an average action movie. One more time pass film for this Sankranthi.
