Photos: Telugu Actor AVS Dies At 56; His Death Shocks Tollywood

Telugu actor Amanchi Venkata Subrahmanyam, who was fondly known as AVS, died due to liver-related problems in Hyderabad on Friday. The last rites of 56-year-old comedian will be performed in the city on Saturday. His family members said that the actor died due to acute liver ailment, from which he had been struggling for a long time.

AVS had reportedly been suffering from liver-related issues for six years. The comedian was first diagnosed with liver-related issues in 2007. After treating him for a year, the doctors had lost all hope about his health condition. But the actor miraculously made a recovery after his daughter donated a part of her liver.

In a statement to IANS, Subrahmanyam's son Pradeep said, "His body will be kept in the morning at the South Indian Film Chambers of Commerce (SIFCC) office for public to pay their last respects. Later in the evening, we will take him to the Punjagutta cremation ground where his last rites will be performed.

AVS was discharged from Global Hospitals on Friday after doctors advised his family to take him home. Pradeep added, "Some of his industry friends visited him after we reached home last evening. AVS Debut In Films

Born at Tenali town, Guntur District, Andhra Pradesh on January 2 in 1957, AV Subrahmanyam was introduced to the film industry by director Bapu through his film Mister Pellam in the year 1993.

First Nandi Award For AVS

With his first film Mister Pellam, AVS became a comedy star in Telugu film. For his first film, he bagged many awards including Nandi Award by Government of Andhra Pradesh.

AVS Acted In 500 Films

From then onwards, there was no look back for this talented actor. AVS acted nearly 500 films in his acting career spanning 19 years. He has played various kinds of roles like comedian, villain and other character roles.

AVS is most remembered for his comic and villain roles. Yamaleela, Sisindri, Intlo Illalu Vantaintlo Priyuralu and Venky are some of his best films.

AVS Was Also A Good Director

AVS was not only a talented actor, but also a prolific director. He had directed four films - Super Heroes, Ori Ni Prema Bangaaram Kaanu, Room Mates and Kothimooka, which had received decent response from the film goers.

AVS As Producer

AVS won many private and government awards for his works in both films and TV industry. He produced two films - Uncle and Ori Ni Prema Bangaaram Kanu...! He worked as General Secretary to the Movie Artistes Association for three terms unanimously.
