Teacher's Day Special: Telugu Actors Who Made Gurus Proud

Teaching is considered as the noble profession in Indian customs and teachers are always held high in Hinduism. In the holy scriptures, teacher has been described as - Guru Brahma Gurur Vishnu, Guru Devo Maheshwaraha, Guru Saakshat Para Brahma, Tasmai Sree Gurave Namaha (Teacher is verily the representative of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. He creates, sustains knowledge and destroys the weeds of ignorance. I salute such a Guru.)

Although Tollywood has always been a game for commercial potboilers, the industry has made several attempts to glorify the greatness of a teacher on screen in the past. Sticking to the above Sanskrit Sloka, the Telugu film industry has tried to prove how a teacher can bring transformation in society, destroying the evil forces. It have also shown that teacher is god-sent man to clear the darkness on this earth.

NT Rama Rao In Badi Panthulu

Badi Panthulu is all about a great bonding between a teacher and students. NT Rama Rao is a teacher in a government primary school, who lives with commitment to basic values of life. When his sons plan to sell his house, which is guru dakshina of his pupils, his old student, who has become a police officer, purchases it in auction and gifts it to their beloved teacher.

Rajendra Prasad In Vanamalu

Rajendra Prasad played a retired school teacher Narayanarao Master in the movie Onamalu, which is a clean and green film that takes us into the memory lane of teacher. This heart-touching movie focuses on deteriorating standards of human values in the present society.

Chiranjeevi In Master

Chiranjeevi has also played the role of a teacher in director Suresh Krishna's 1997 film Master, which featured him as Telugu lecturer Rajkumar. He is an ideal lecturer and he mingles with the students, becomes a comrade in arms and fools around with them in order to control them.

Balakrishna In Simha, Maharathi

In the movie Simha, Balakrishna has played a professor Sivannarayana, who would risk anything in his career to trample the injustice. He has also played dual roles as music teacher Bala and dance teacher Krishna in the movie Maharathi.

Venkatesh In Sundarakanda

Venkatesh has also played a teacher in director K Raghavendra Rao's Sundarakanda, which featured him as a Telugu lecturer in the college. In a bid to stop marrying his student, he ties the knot with another woman. How his student comes to his rescue, when she comes to know about his wife's deadly decease will form the rest of the story.

Ravi Teja In Mirapakaya

Ravi Teja was seen as a teacher in Harish Shankar's hit movie Mirapakaya. The actor played an inspector in Intelligence Bureau, who becomes a History lecturer as part of an undercover operation to teach lessons to baddies.

Swati In Golconda High School

Colors Swathi, who is known for playing naughty and bubbly roles, went for a complete makeover in Indraganti Mohana Krishna's film Golconda High School. In this film, she played the role of an English teacher. Swathi was seen in saris throughout the movie.
