R Narayana Murthy is a revolutionary filmmaker and is known for exposing exploitation and injustice through his movies. When he found that the Tollywood was not getting its due respect at the celebration of 100 years of Indian cinema, he could not resist blasting the organisers of the event, which was held in Chennai. He created ruckus on the stage on the second day of the event.

While some dance performance was going, R Narayana Murthy stormed on to the stage and took to the mike. In a pit of anger, the filmmaker charged, "This 100 years celebrations, which should be held in a grand and dignified way, are being celebrated cheaply as an audio release function with item songs. The dais has to be named on Raghupati Venkayya Naidu's name, who is the pride of South Indian film industry."

The revolutionary director added, "It is unfortunate that in a function which is dedicated to Telugu films, we are felicitating Tamil director like Balachandar instead of our Telugu stalwarts like Dasari Narayana Rao, Vishwanath, Raghavender rao, Rama Naidu. There is no doubt that Balachandar is a stalwart. But shouldn't we have the nature of felicitating our own people."

Narayana Murthy's sudden burst out left many in shock. Telugu actor Dr Rajasekhar and SIFCC president C Kalyan tried to snatch the mike and send him down forcibly from the stage. Finally, the upset director walked out of the event, but the organisers gasped to digest the whole scene.

Telugu Cinema Was Not Displayed

R Narayana Murthy was very disappointed with the way the organisers had displayed the Telugu cinema. Interrupting the programme, he labelled the event as 'an audio function' with stage item songs.

Narayana Was Upset Over Decoration

Later, the filmmaker spoke to a leading English daily hurled his anger further. He said that he was disappointed with decoration of the venue as it did not have place for the picture of single Tollywood star, not even Raghupathi Venkaiah Naidu, the pioneer of South Indian cinema.

Bad Way Of Organising Event

Secondly, R Narayana Murthy thought that the event would throw light on the contribution of several Telugu stars of Indian cinema. But the event began with Sivamani's show, followed by song and dance. It appeared like an orchestra, which angered the director further.

No Poster To Honour Telugu Stars

Narayana Murthy said, "There were so many people who worked hard towards developing the Telugu film industry and it is sad that none of them were honoured with even a poster at the premises."

Narayana Murthy's Outburst

Talking about his outburst, Narayana Murthy said that he was disappointed with arrangements at the event and he wanted to let the organisers know about his displeasure. He added, "That's the reason I interrupted the show."
