Bollywood has already remade several hit Telugu movies in Hindi and they proved to be success at the B-Town Box Office. But the trend does not seem to stop there. It has continued. Now, well-known filmmaker Boney Kapoor has bought the remake rights of Mahesh Babu's 2003 hit action film Okkadu and his son Arjun Kapoor, who hogged the limelight with Ishaqzaade, is starring in the Hindi version of this flick.
Written and directed by Gunasekhar, the movie Okkadu is all about a Kabbadi player, who rescues a young woman from an unwanted marriage and hides her in his home. The movie starring Mahesh Babu and Bhoomika Chawla in leads, was hit at the AP Box Office. It was also remade in Tamil, Kannada, Bengali languages and become a big hit at the Box Office in their respective states.
Now, Arjun Kapoor is essaying the lead role played by Mahesh Babu in the original film Okkadu, while Sonakshi Sinha is likely to appear in the female lead. Talking to PTI, the Bollywood actor confirmed news about starring in the remake. He said, "Yes, I am doing the remake of Okkadu with my father."
But when asked about Sonakshi Sinha's presence in the Hindi remake of Okkadu, Arjun Kapoor declined to divulge any details related to other cast and crew. He said that those details would be revealed at a right time. "All other details about the film will be announced at an appropriate time," the PTI quotes the actor as saying.
However, popular director jodi Abbas-Mustan, who are basking in the success of their latest venture Race 2, will direct the Hindi version of Okkadu, which will be produced by Boney Kapoor. The makers of this movie are yet to finalise other cast, crew, title and shooting location. They hope to make an official announcement on this project.
