Yeto Vellipoyindi Manasu bags mixed reviews from film critics

Popular South Indian director Gautham Menon's latest Telugu venture Yeto Vellipoyindi Manasu starring Nani and Samantha in leads has garnered mixed reviews from film critics. But the movie, which has been simultaneously released in Tamil as Neethaane En Ponvasantham and in Hindi as Assi Nabbe Poorey Sau, has got rich ratings. It has been rated an average of 3.25 out of 5.

Almost all the critics have appreciated Gautham Menon's story, screenplay and dialogues, Nani and Samantha's performances, Ilaiyaraja's soundtracks and background score, MS Prabhu's camera work in the movie Yeto Vellipoyindi Manasu. But all of them have one main complaint against the film that it has a very slow paced narration, which will kill the interest of the film goers.

Yeto Vellipoyindi Manasu is packaged with all the right ingredients - a fairly good and sensitive screenplay, fine performances by the lead pair, Nani and Samantha, melodious music by the maestro Ilaiyaraja and decent production values. The film is largely relatable. Yet it is very slow paced and this seems to be the main deterrent.

Nani's performance in the climax scenes have made the movie more believable. Though slow pace is the problem in the movie, second half is its soul. Have patience, and you will be rewarded.

Yeto Vellipoyindi Manasu doesn't have any story. It is just a journey of a couple who come across different situations in their life. Like every Guatham movie, this also moves at its own pace. It hardly moves at times and gets stuck to one point more than once. That may not go down well with the audiences who hate watching slow romantic films.

Gautham Menon truly deserves the entire credit for his tight screenplay and awesome narration. Best thing about Yeto Vellipoindi Manasu. Soundtrack composed by Ilaiyaraaja. Nani as usual does the role in his style. Samantha is gorgeous in the movie and she pulled off three distinct roles with much ease and her expressions are fabulous.

The film takes off on a rather slow note and it takes some time to get into the mood. The interval scene was quite lengthy and had few technical hiccups. But the second half gets into some movement and builds the required emotion. As always, the climax was the best part in the entire film. Overall, this is a film which will appeal to those who are in love and who have loved. At the Box Office, it could be an average to below average grosser.

The pace of narration is slow, but if you overlook that aspect, you'll see what a fine film it is. It's a must-watch if you are a sucker for romance.

This movie is not a patch on Gautham Menon's ‘Ye Maaya Chesave', so don't go expecting a similar flick. If you are deeply in love, you may find Yeto Vellipoyindhi Manasu to be an OK flick. But for regular movie goers, the film is too slow to offer any real entertainment. Samantha's gorgeous looks and brilliant performance are assets for the movie. But is it enough to save the film at the Box Office? That needs to be seen.
