Explaining the reason for opting the title, Villain, for Telugu version, Mani Ratnam said that someone has already registered the title so we changed the title, and late song writer Veturi suggested that it could be apt for the storyline. Meanwhile, Mani heaped a praise on lead pairs Vikram and Aishwarya Bachchan. He denied to discuss the storyline and said that all those things should be seen on silver screen.
Aishwarya says that she is lucky to be the part of this film. Talking about her character she says that she is playing a spunky classical dancer and she is the central character of the film. She is doing the lead role in all three versions.
Like Aamir Khan, Vikram has been doing variety of roles with different costumes and in Villain also he will be seen in different getup. He plays Aishwarya's husband in Hindi and playing villain in regional version. He says that he is fortunate to have worked with Mani sir, his long-awaited dream has come true. He has dubbed in Telugu in his own voice for the first time. He credited Mani Ratnam for encouraging to dub his voice in Telugu version.
Priyamani, who plays a small role in the film, says that she is more than happy to be associated with legendary director Mani Ratnam.
