Padmashree award for Brahmanandam

Brahmanandam
Without him no movie is complete. Film makers feel that even if a film is utterly hopeless in terms of story and screenplay, the presence of this comedian will definitely push the film into the 'average' bracket. We are talking about none other than Brahmanandam Kanneganti.

Starting out as a lecturer in West Godavari district, he got a chance to prove himself in Telugu director-writer Jandhyala's Aha Naa Pellanta starring Rajendra Prasad as hero. With the success of this film, there was no looking back for the young comedian. His presence in films like Dhee, Ready and Jalsa has enlivened them. Recently, he starred in Brahamanandam Dance Company, a comedy film in which he took the backseat. This is the confidence exhibited by the veteran comedian.

A while ago, Brahmanandam had the rare distinction of entering the Guinness Book of World Records as the comedian who acted in 754 films in just 20 years. Now, Brahmanandam has another reason to celebrate: he has received the Padmashree, one of the highest awards for a civilian in the field of Arts. The only other Telugu comedian to have received this prestigious award is Allu Ramalingaiah.

Brahamanandam has also acted in the Tamil films Ghilli, Mozhi and Sathyam.
