Maro Charithra, the romantic tragedy starring Kamal Hassan and Saritha, was a cult hit of the 1980's. It became famous for its portrayal of love between a couple from differing cultures who didn't speak a common language. Maro Charithra was remade in Hindi as Ek Duje Ke Liye with Kamal Hassan and Rati Agnihotri.

Dil Raju is now planning to remake the film with Varun Sandesh essaying Kamal Hassan's role. Varun Sandesh recently swept the box-office with his performance in Kotha Bangaru Lokam.

Cinematographer Ravi Yadav, who worked for Neelakanta's film Show, will be the debut director. Mickey J. Meyer will compose the songs. The story, set in the US, will about love between two NRI youngsters.
