Chikku Bukku – Movie Review

Friday, December 3, 2010, 18:06 [IST]
Chikku Bukku is out and out a colorful entertainer from debutant director Manikandan (student of late Jeeva's school). Though the movie looks like a copy of many Bollywood movies, the presentation by the director makes the audience to sit and enjoy the film till the end.

Arjun (Aarya) lives with his grandmother. Once, she asks him to go back to his home town in Karaikudi to reclaim his ancestral property. Anu (Shreya) is a modern, mischievous girl, who completed MBA in London and coming back to Madurai. At a point, Arjun and Anu meet at Bangalore airport. Their onward flight to Madurai gets canceled. But situation makes them to pretend like newly married couple so that they can travel on a canceled railway ticket to Madurai. Meanwhile, there is an interesting flashback during the journey as well. How they fall in love and what happens next forms an interesting climax.

For the first time, Aarya has done dual role as a father and son in Chikku Bukku. His performance in both the roles are simply awesome. Shreya looks cute in some scenes but irritates in many scenes. She has to work on her looks. Debutant Preeta Rao is the real surprise and her performance is a delight to watch. Aarya - Preeta's screen chemistry workouts largely and make them as a perfect couple. As usual, Santhanam has given rib tickling comedy in most of the scenes. Colonial Cousins music is not appealing. Gurudev's camera work is excellent and helps to maintain the pleasant mood through out the film. The big minus is the slow pace of the script and narration.

Verdict: Watchable
Cast: Aarya, Shriya, Preethika, Santhaanam
Music: Colonial Cousins
Camera: Gurudev
Direction: Manikandan
Producer: Sunanda Murali Manohar

Worst n waste movie.. boring.. shreya has done such an over acting, which irritates. The 1980s story line is just a remake of "The Classic - 2003" which is a korean movie, CB is a tamil version of it...
