Sathyaraj and Goundamani are one of the most popular hero-comedian pair in rural Tamil Nadu for more than 20 years. Particularly, their comedy flicks like Thirumathi Pazhanisamy, Thai Maaman, Maaman Magal and Bramma are unforgettable comedy classics of Tamil cinema. They had terrific comedy timing in films set in the rural milieu. Now after a break, the pair is back with a bang in G Kitcha's Thangam, which brings a lot of smile back on every viewer's face!

There is nothing special in the story based on the Annan – Thangai pasam, which is often beaten in Sarath Kumar, Sathyaraj films released in the early 90's. The director uses the same tested formula with the presentation in mass masala format that works well in all centers, particularly in B and C.

Gounder blasts almost all the larger than life heroes of Tamil film industry including our superstar in a scene, which make a huge wave of laugh amidst the audiences.

Here are few samples: Why all these heroes using punch dialogues? Did our Mahathma Gandhi deliver any punch lines during his fights against the British rule? Heroes, who marry in all pomp and glory and divorce in three months, stars in Tamil film industry launching political parties etc! (Avanavan nadigananathum Kalyanam panran, 3 masathula divorce panran, kadacila Katchi Arambichu settle agidaran, Ennangada ithellam?).

When Sathyaraj wants to start a political party, Gounder immediately names the party as Vazhaipazha comedy munnetra Kazhagam (Banana comedy progressive party) and throws his colourful towel on Sathyaraj's face to use it as his party flag!! In most of the scenes, Goundamani easily dominates the hero Sathyaraj with his timing dialogues.

Here is the story: Thangam (Sathyaraj), is a rich landlord with a fun loving thai maman Kaalai (Goundamani), by his side. Thangam showers all his love and affection on his sister Bagyalakshmi (Jayashree). Soon he meets Meenakshi (Megha Nair) and after a duet both are getting married.

The bad guys led by Arusamy (Shanmugarajan) rapes Thangam's sister and he is forced to give her in marriage to him and also later has to go to prison to save her marriage! He returns from jail only to see his sister's dead body, who is killed by Arusamy and his brother. The red eyed Sathyaraj vows to take the baddies by using tact and wins the final battle!

Thanks to Goundamani to make this hill like old story as enjoyable with his timing comedy. Whenever he enters in a scene, the hall shakes in the tremour of viewer's laugh! It seems that in most of the scenes the hero Sathyaraj also underplay his role and enjoys the hilarious comedy crackers of Gounder.

Mega Nair, the yet another seductive beauty suitable to heroes like Sathyaraj makes the songs watchable with shows her nice curves and expressions.

All the other actors Illavarasu, Delhi Kumar, Mahadeven are pla their role well.
