Arasangam - Review

Arasangam
After a long gap Vijayakanth gave a meaningful, controlled action packed performance in Arasangam, thanks to its director Madhesh. The movie starts in a quite different way. A milkman suddenly takes out the gun and shoots a genius in the initial scene and in another scene, a top scientist is killed by a college student inside the college auditorium in a shocking manner. To nab the real culprit behind this new style of terrorism, the Tamil Nadu Police invites top cop Manoj (Biju Menon) from Mumbai, but he disappears in mid air he is on his way to Chennai. Finally, Arivarasan comes…

Araviarasu (Vijayakanth) is a criminologist working as the chief trainer at the national police training college in Assam. He is both physically and mentally balanced person and always rightly uses his brain to catch the criminals wherever they hide. Immediately, Arivu gets in to action and fastening the investigation. It leads him to Chandru (Rahul Dev), a guy who is the in charge for killing off top scientists and software experts of future India using innocent people to murder them. But Chandru escapes to Canada and the same has forced Arivu to go to Canada.

In Toronto, a sexy cop Lara (Sheryl Brindo) comes to Arivu's help and later falls in love with him as usual and finally our captain return to India with the culprit Martin (Biju Menon-duel role), who is behind all those blasts and deaths in India.

It seems like the captain underplays in most of the scenes and just doing things what the director instructs. However, it works out well and gives more authenticity to his role. There is not enough scope to perform for Navneetha Kaur and Sheryl in this hero oriented action masala. They have just two songs and the same are enough to show Navneet's and Sheryl's glamour. Biju Menon as bad guy is promising, but his Malayalam slang is irritating.

Overall Arasangam is worth watching and much better than recently released Vijayakanth films.

Verdict- Watchable!

Ajay Devgan in remake of Arasangam

Madhesh, the director of Arasangam, announced that he would remake Arasangam in Hindi with Ajay Devgan in the lead. The director says, "Arasangam receives overwhelming response from all the corners of the state. Many have told that it is a different attempt with actor like Vijayakanth, who knows for punch dialogues and ferocious action blocks. I simply tried to deliver a film with a different Vijayakanth, who is not much talked or kicked against the baddies. His brain power only.....

Well.. I should say hats off to Vijaykanth!! for all the political drama and punch dialogues he leaves about inefficiency of politicians..!! by making a movie during his political career isnt he the first one breaching what he preaches all the time?? does he consider his job as an MLA as something he does for freelance or charity? Isn't his acting which is 100% a conmmercial venture (unless he is donating the proceeds to UNESCO) fully equivalent to a govenment servant running his private company during his official tenure? we get angry when we go to a government office and see a government employee busy with his private chores or private company, not attending to our duties. We cite tax payers money etc.. then what about Vijaykanth, who is elected by the people, who has pledged his 5 year tenure for the people (leave the cost of running the parliament, expenses for MLA's paid by tax payer's money)? And above all irony he is vocal about citing inflation.. waste of expenditure and so on!!! Oh.. i just forgot.. he needs to fund his political campaign after 5 years.. no wonder he needs to work hard in his movies so that he can continue to serve his beloved people!!! - Anitha Rangan email id: ani_rangan@yahoo.co.in
