Things are falling into places for Vishwaroopam, as the film has passed all the hurdles. Now, the count down for the release of the film in Tamil Nadu has begun with fans of Kamal Hassan desperately waiting for the movie to hit the screens in the state.
The official date of Vishwaroopam release is yet to be announced. However, sources have said that the film is likely to release on February 7 and the process are in full swing. On the other end, Kamal Hassan is withdrawing his petition against the ban from the Madras High Court.
The actor, who has planned never-heard DTH (Director to Home) release, is releasing Vishwaroopam a week after its theatrical release, i.e., the film will hit the screens on February 15. It was the idea of Kamal that came under severe criticism from a section of industry leading him to push the film release to January 25 after TNTOA decided not to screen the movie.
Originally, the film, which also stars Pooja Kumar, Andrea Jeremiah, and Rahul Bose, was supposed to release on January 11. Meanwhile, the actor has agreed to edit the film and decided to chop seven scenes and mute some dialogues, which were objected by Muslim groups in Tamil Nadu.
In a swift follow up action, district collectors across Tamil Nadu revoked prohibitory orders under which the release was banned on January 23 after Muslim outfits came out strongly against the mega budget movie.
The Tamil version of the movie is running smoothly in Kerala and Karnataka after minor hiccups as also Vishwaroop in Hindi in the North.
In fact, Vishwaroopam has done good business in Kerala and Karnataka and have won thumbs up from audience, who believe that there is no objectionable scene in the film. But the 11-day ban in TN has cost the filmmakers an estimated loss of Rs 30-50 crore.
However, the Hindi film, which was released on February 1, has got a decent start at the Box Office and is expected to do well in the coming days.
