Thalaivaa Gets Grand Opening In Tamil Nadu

Ilayathalapathy Vijay starrer Thalaivaa, which released across the world, expect in Tamil Nadu, has finally cleared all it's hurdles and released today, August 20.

Thalaivaa, which released today has been raking in positive response from all over the state. Actor Vijay, who is releaved from all the release related issue has thanked Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jaylalitha, in his press release.

Thalaivaa has released in 405 screens, across the Tamil Nadu. Industry experts say that this is the huge response for a movie that is releasing 11 days after it's world wide release and that too on a working day.

Thalaivaa was scheduled to hit the screens on August 9, but due to the bomb threat from few miscreants, the theatre owners in Chennai and across Tamil Nadu refused to release the movie.

The actor added that since the past ten days, he along with the producer, director, distributor, theatre owners and his fans have been very disturbed owing to the problems pertaining to the release of Thalaivaa. Vijay has also thanked his fan's who patiently awaited the movie release, in spite of many controversies, and asked them to enjoy Thalaivaa with family. 

Thalaivaa has Vijay, Amala Paul, Sathyaraj, Santhanam and Abhimanyu Singh in the lead cast. The flick is directed by AL Vijay.

First Threat

On August 7, Thalaivaa faced it's first pre-release controversy, theatre owners in Chennai, received bomb threat by the Student union, following which they paused the advance booking process.

Theatre Owners Requested

They asked government to provide police security for all the cinema halls, where Thalaivaa was scheduled to release, without which they refused to screen the movie.

Notice

Thalaivaa crew also received notice from Chennai City Civil, in which the petitioner claimed the movie has showed the Tamil leaders in the poor light.

Petitioner Claimed

Petitioner SKR Karnan claimed that the Thalaivaa story is based on the life of his grandfather and father, who lived in Dharavi, Mumbai.

Piracy Problem

Thalaivaa also faced piracy problem. Before it's release in Tamil Nadu, the pirated DVDs and CDs made its way in the local market.

Vijay Requested

Vijay requested his fans to inform police if they witness anybody selling pirated DVDs and CDs of Thalaivaa.

 

A Theatre In Tamil Nadu

After a two weeks delay Thalaivaa, was welcomed in Tamil Nadu, the movie got a grand opening. Die hard fan's welcomed the movie.

Traditional manner of welcoming a new release in Tamil Nadu, Vijay fans poured milk on huge cut outs of the actor, garlanded his posters and banners and danced to the beats of folk music.
