FEFSI to halt shooting today

The Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI) has decided to call off the shooting on Monday July 15th. In respect to the death of South Producer-entrepreneur Ravi Shankar Prasad, the federation has decided to halt for the day.

"We would have cancelled shooting if today (Sunday) was a working day. Usually, the industry doesn't work on second Sundays of every month and therefore, we have decided to call off shooting on Monday (July 15) in the state to pay our respect to late visionary producer Ravi Shankar Prasad," a statement from FEFSI said.

Ravi Shankar Prasad went missing on July 8th, his body was found on the early hours of July 13th in the banks of Godawari in East Godawari district. The mysterious death of the producer has shocked many film legends of South India. Ravi Shankar Prasad has produced many superhit movies in Kollywood and Tollywood, his notable movies were Shankar Dada MBBS, Mayakkum Enna and Nanban. His upcoming Madha Gaja Raja is scheduled to release this year.

Ravi Shankar was raised in a family that has been associated with cinema for generations now. The family was involved in an array of business ventures. The popular IMAX cinema in Hyderabad was founded by Prasad's family a few years ago.

Ravi Shankar was the managing director of Gemini Film Circuit, a leading production and distribution company in South. He was also the Chairman of Regency Group of chain hotels, where he was staying since July 7. On July 8th he left the hotel early in the morning for a walk, and then he never returned and was found dead in the early hours of July 13th. He is survived by his wife and two daughters.

Popular Telugu actor Nani took to Twitter, "RIP Ravi Shankar Prasad garu. (I) don't know why or how, (but) shocking. (He was) such a positive person."

Vignesh Sivan

Tamil director Vignesh Shivan, whose debut film Poda Podi was produced by Ravi Shankar Prasad, spoke highly of his supportive nature. "(I'm) Shocked to know that Ravi Shankar Prasad is no more! (He was) such a nice human being! (He) was so supportive for 'Poda Podi'. (Rest in Peace) RIP Ravi sir. Sad day," Vignesh posted on his Twitter page.

Shankar Dada MBBS

Ravi Shankar Prasad has produced many hit movies.In 2004, he produced Shankar Dada MBBS, starring Mega Star Chiranjeevi, Sonali Bendre, Paresh Rawal, Srikanth and Girish Karnad. It was the remake Hindi blockbuster Munna Bhai MBBS, starring Sanjay Dutt.

Mayakkum Enna

Mayakkum Enna in 2011, Tamil movie starring Dhanush and Richa Gangopadhyay. The movie deals with the life of wildlife photographer and his struggles in the life. The movie received positive response from critics.

Nanban

It was the 2012 hit movie starring Vijay, Ileana and Jeeva, the movie was directed by Star director Shankar. It was the remake of 2009 Bollywood superhit movie 3 Idiots.

Madha Gaja Raja

Is a Tamil upcoming movie produced by Ravi Shankar Prasad, the cast includes Vishal, Anjali, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar and Sonu Sood in the lead roles.
