The couple tied the knot 32 years ago at the Tirupati Tirumala Devasthanam.

Rajini's wife Latha graduated with a Master of Arts degree in English literature from Stella Maris College in Chennai in 1980.

Latha is the founder and correspondent of The Ashram, a Chennai-based school, and is the chairperson of her daughter Soundarya Rajinikanth's production company, Ocher Studios.

During the 1980s, Latha worked as a playback singer in Tamil cinema. She sung a few songs in films; notable examples include Netru Indha Neram from the Kamal Haasan-starrer 'Tik tik tik...' and 'Kadavul ullamae...' from Anbulla Rajinikanth.

She also contributed to Rajini 25 (1999), a musical album that commemorated Rajinikanth's 25 years of his career.

Rajini and Latha are blessed with two daughters. Aishwarya is the eldest daughter, who is married to actor Dhanush.

Aishwarya made her directorial debut last year with 3 starring her husband Dhanush.

The younger daughter Soundarya is married to businessman Ashwin.

Soundarya is making her directorial debut in forthcoming Kochadaiyaan starring her father Rajinikanth.
