Director Bala's Paradesi Nominated For LIFF

Tamil flick Paradesi, which was released in 2012 October, has been nominated for eight awards, including Best Film, at the London International Filmmaker Festival (LIFF).

Paradesi was critically acclaimed Tamil movie which received mixed reviews from the critics and declared as average hit in the Box Office.

Director Bala of Sethu fame, has directed six critically and commercially acclaimed movies in Tamil film industry. National Award winning director has reached global platform with his last film Pardesi nominating to LIFF.

Pardesi was adapted from the Dr PH Daniel's novel Red Tea, where the plot deals with the plight of tea plantation workers in South India. The movie also have the credentials of first Tamil film to hit sixty screens in North India alone.

LIFF is scheduled to take place between Oct 12 and 18 in Ealing, London. Paradesi is honoured as first Tamil movie competing in an International Festival, in which the movies are nominated from America, Russia, Lebanon and South Korea.

The English title of Paradesi, directed by Bala Pazhanisaamy, is Vagabond. Paradesi is nominated for best film, best foreign language feature film, best director of a foreign film and best director of a foreign language feature film.

Bala has won the National award as the best director for Naan Kadavul and four National awards for some of his other movies.

Director Bala has been nominated for the four categories for the Best Film, Best Director, Best Foriegn Film and Best Foriegn Film Director.

Nominated For Best Music

The movie has also been nominated for Best Music. Paradesi has the music scored by GV Prakash Kumar.

Best Cinematography

Paradesi was also appreciated for its cinematography by R Chezhiyan. The movie is also nominated for Best Cinematography award in LIFF.

Best Actor

Atharva Murali is been nominatedd for the Best Actor for the movie Paradesi. The actor played the role of Rasa, who is orphaned at young age and brought up by his grand mother.

Best Costume

Poornima Ramaswamy, who won Best Costume Designer in 60th National Film Awards is also nominated for Best Costume Designer award in LIFF.

Paradesi Lead Roles

Released earlier this year, the film featured Atharva Murali, Vedhika Kumar and Dhansika in the lead roles.
