Tamil superstar Rajinikanth, is famous for his style and genre. The actor is also known for his simplicity and down to earth character.

Rajinikanth came to light in Tamil industry from the movie Apoorva Raagangal, which was directed by K Balachandran. The movie had Kamal Hassan, Srividya, Major Sundarrajan and Jayasudha in the lead roles.

Rajinikanth did not only stick to Tamil cinema, but he also made his appearance in many Kannada and Telugu movies. He usually appeared in the antagonist roles in late 70s.

Rajini gained the superstar title from the movie Bairavi, which released in 1978. The movie had Sripriya, Geetha, Sreekanth, Manorama and Suruli Rajan in the important roles. After this, Rajini's successful career started.

He became one of the most worshiped personality across the globe. He also became the popular figure with his special character.

Rajinikanth played the role of Madras mafia Don. The movie was based on 1978 Bollywood hit Don (1978). The movie had Rajinikanth, Sripriya, Reena Roy in the lead roles.

Murattu Kaalai (1980)

Rajinikanth was seen as a village guy, who rebels against the rich people. Murattu Kaalai was directed by SP Muthuraman.

Thalaipathi (1991)

The movie had Rajinikanth, Mammootty, Shobana in the lead roles, which was directed by Mani Ratnam. The theme is loosely based on the friendship between Karna and Duryodhana of the Hindu epic Mahabharatha.

Annamalai (1992)

Annamalai, which was released in the year 1992 had Rajinikanth, Khushboo and Sarath Babu in the lead roles.

Baasha (1995)

Rajinikanth played the role of a protagonist, who takes revenge for his friend's murder.

Arunachalam (1997)

Rajinikanth was seen as the head of village. The movie had Rambha and Soundarya in the lead roles.

Padayaapa (1999)

The movie was a Blockbuster hit. Padayappa had Rajinikanth, Ramya Krishna and Soundarya in the lead roles, and it was directed by KS Ravikumar.

Baba (2002)

Rajinikanth was back after a long gap. The plot of the movie revolves around the reforming of a gangster, who is revealed to be the reincarnation of the Hindu saint, and he fights against political corruption.

Chandramukhi (2005)

Chandramukhi deals with the story of women with dual personality disorder, where Rajini played the role of Psychiatrist. Prabhu, Jyotika, Nayantara and Vadivel were seen in the important roles.

Shivaji - The Boss (2007)

In 2007, Rajinikanth was back as Shivaji - The Boss. Rajinikanth was seen fighting against corrupted political system in a Robin Hood style. The movie was directed by Shankar.

Endhiran (2010)

Star director Shankar and Rajinikanth combination was back after three years. Rajinikanth was seen in the dual roles, as a scientist and a robot. Bollywood diva Aishwarya Rai was paired opposite Rajini.
