Ajith voices his support for Vishwaroopam
While the Tamil film industry has stood silent over the ban on Viswaroopam, some of the stars have raised their voice against it. After Rajinikanth, Bharathiraja and others, we have Ajith Kumar coming out to share his disappointment over the unheard ban on Tamil cinema till date and lending his support to the Ulaganayagan.

The Thala, in a press release, said, "The constitution of India declares India as a Sovereign, Socialist, Secular, Democratic republic assuring its citizens of justice, equality and liberty. Trend of the day is all the words have been clichéd, misunderstood and misconstrued. Secularism - a system of political or social philosophy that rejects all forms of religious faith and worship."

He expressed his unhappiness over the recent development and raised question on our democratic values. "Is India a Secular nation or being played on the basis of vote bank politics. Democracy and Secularism are being misunderstood as clichéd words that are just adjectives for our nation. Time we lend our ears to the actual values that the country lives for."

In what could be a shocking development, Kamal Hassan's much-awaited Viswaroopam was banned in Tamil Nadu for 15 days on January 23, two days before the release, after several Muslim organisations opposed the film citing that it shows their community in bad taste. Later, the Madras High Court stayed the release till January 28.
