60th Idea South Filmfare Awards: Dhanush, The Showman

The 60th Idea South Filmfare awards 2013 was held in Hyderabad on Saturday, July 20. The event became a special day for Tamil film industry as the evening was filled with Stars, of all the four South film industry.

South Stars such as Shruti Hassan, Amala Paul, Anjali, Sharmila Mandre were seen rocking in the blissful evening. The crowd was driven crazy when Tamil's popular item numbers were played, 'Naku muka' and 'Ethir neechal', which charged the crowd.

Instead of South film awards it should have been named as Kollywood awards for a simple reason as Tamil films won maximum awards in the event. Tamil superstar Dhanush,who was basking in the success of Mariyaan, was the showman of the event. Dhanush won the prestigious black lady for the Best Actor and Singer for the movie 3.

Dhanush Best Actor And Best Singer

Dhanush grabbed two awards for his performance in 3 that was released in 2012. The movie was the directorial debut of Dhanush's wife Aishwarya Dhanush. It had Dhanush and Shruti Hassan playing the lead role. Dhanush won the Best Singer awards (Male) for Kolaveri, which was popular even before the release of the movie.

Samantha Best Actress

South Star Samantha won the Best Actress award for her performance in Neethane En Ponvasantham. The movie was written and directed by Gautham Menon. Samantha, Jiva and Santhanam were seen the lead roles.

Vazhakku Enn 18/9 Best Movie

Vazhakku Enn 18/9, was the 2012 Tamil crime thriller, directed by Balaji Sakthivel. The movie had the new faces, Mithun, Sri, Urmila and Manisha were seen in the lead role.

Balaji Sakthivel Best Director

Balaji Sakthivel won the Best Director award for Vazhakku Enn 18/9. The plot is narrated in flash backs. The story narrates the life of the poor people, who suffers in the hands of the rich people.

Thambi Ramaiah Best Supporting Actor

Thambi Ramaiah won the Best Supporting role award (Male) for his performance in Kumki. The movie released in late 2012, was the debut movie for Vikram Prabhu. The plot revolves around an elephant trainer and his trained elephant. Thambi Ramaiah played the role of Kothali in the movie.

Saranya Ponvannan Best Supporting Actress

Actress Saranya Ponvannan won the Best Supporting role award (Female) for her performance in Neerparavai. The movie was directed by Seenu Ramaswamy and had Vishnu, Sunaina and Nandita Das in the lead role.

Best Music D. Imman

South famous music scorer D Imman won the award for Best Music for Kumki.

Best Lyricist Yugabharathy

Best Lyrics award was honoured to Yugabharathy for 'Sollitaley' song from the movie Kumki.

Best Play BAck Singer (Female) NSK Ramya

Best Playback Singer (Female) was honoured to NSK Ramya for 'Satru mumbu', from the movie Neethane En Ponvasantham.

Best Debutant Actor: Udhayanidhi Stalin

Best Debutant Actor award was honoured to Udhayanidhi Stalin for his performance in Oru Kal Oru Kannadi. The movie cast includes Udhayanidhi Stalin, Hansika Motwani and Santhanam in the lead role.

Best Debutant Actress: Lakshmi Menon

Actress Lakshmi Menon won the Best Debutant actress award for the movie Sundarapandian. The movie had M Sasikumar, Vijay Sethupathi and Soori in the lead role.
