Reports say that Venkat Prabhu wanted to cast a top actress and considered actresses like Ileana D'Cruz and Samantha but finally decided to rope in Richa Gangopadhyay. The director offered the film recently and the actress grabbed it in both hands. However, she is yet to sign on the dotted lines.
Meanwhile, Richa Gangopadhyay has confirmed to a leading daily that she has been zeroed in on to play the female lead. The actress, who was supposed to act in his previous movie Mankatha, claimed that she is happy to have bagged the project. She will be seen in the role of a mischievous girl in the movie.
Venkat Prabhu's Biriyani is a suspense-thriller, which will take off on July 14. Currently, the pre-production work is at its final stage and work on music composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja is going on.
