Gautham Menon's Neethane En Ponvasantham has opened up to mixed reviews from audience and critics. The film, which has got thumbs up for the performance of the lead stars, has got mixed reaction from a section of people for its slow narration.

Neethane En Ponvasantham is a sweet romantic story of Varun (Jeeva) and Nithya (Samantha), who are in love since their childhood days. Their love for each other, fights, ego clashes and their reconciliation form the crux of the story.

The film has been praised by critics for its songs composed by Ilaiyaraaja, Ms Prabhu's cinematography and Jeeva-Samantha's brilliant performance. But people have criticised Gautham Menon's screenplay and the slow pace of the story progress. Adding to that people's comparison with his earlier romantic hits like Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa and Vaaranam Aayiram are not helping the cause.
