Mani Ratnam's movies have always been made with huge cast and mega-budgets. But when he chooses to make a movie with newcomers, people thought that the filmmaker, for a change, might be trying to do a flick with a meagre budget. However now, it has been revealed that the latest movie, like his earlier films, is an expensive project.
Reports say that Kadal, which introduces Gautham Karthik and Tulasi Nair, is being made with the budget of Rs 50 crore. B Jeyamohan, who is the co-writer of Kadal, has himself revealed it. Even though there is not a star cast, the estimated budget comes to the above-mentioned price. Neither the producer nor the director has compromised on any aspect, claims another report.
The entire movie will be shot in rural backdrop and every scene is being shot to perfection. However, the Kadal unit is currently filming some important scenes at Vembanad Lake, which is believed to be the longest lake in India, near Alapuzha. The movie features Arjun Sarja, Arvind Swamy and Lakshmi Manchu in the important roles. Mani Ratnam's trusted men AR Rahman and Rajeev Menon are handling the music and cinematography department, respectively.
