Censor bans Sengadal

The Chennai Regional Censor board has banned the release of Sengadal, a film based on Sri Lankan war and problems faced by Tamil fishermen in Indian ocean. The film, according to sources, speaks elaborately on the atrocities of Sri Lankan army against the Eelam and Indian Tamils.

After watching the preview of the film, the Board officials rejected to certify the movie, says a source. The Board also has reststricted the movie from screening and was unhappy with the filmmaker's critical views on Sri Lankan govt and their atrocities over Tamils.

Leena Manimekalai, the director has termed the Boards decision as a double standards. It is completely against the rights to freedom of expression. She also said that the movie is purely based on the truths and facts of Sri Lanka's war against the Tamils and not against the LTTE.

Anyone who thinks there's freedom of expression in India should now rethink.

This simply shows that India had been in league with the murdering of Tamils. The present DMK govt. should be chucked out. Is India pretending that it is democratic? Indian is happy showing the unworthy films from Mumbai and Chennai cine world. It is only opium for the poor and keeping them dump. What is morally wrong bringing up the plight of the Tamilnadu fishermen. My respect for India has gone rock bottom.

If India have any concern about tamilnadu citizens it would have stoped the killing of poor indian fisherman. but italian run country have no concern about real indians. this is why ceylon navy keep killing our fisherman and nothing done about it. and worse indian government donated navy ships for ceylon governement. this shows the attitude so there is no surprise in banning this film which shows the true state of affairs.

what do you expect from a RWA supported censor board. If it was about Pakistan it would have been release without any consideration. But India is rule by Italian Immigrant who is anti Tamil sadly..
