A tribute to actor Murali

Wednesday, September 8, 2010, 15:34 [IST]
Versatile actor Murali was one of the most talented South Indian actors. He breathed his last at 4.00 am on Wednesday at a private hospital in Chennai due to a cardiac failure. He is survived by wife Shobha, son Atharva and a daughter.

Murali was born on May 19, 1964. He was a son of legendary Kannada film director G.Siddalingiah. He started his film career by assisting his father. Though, his roots were connected to Kannada, he made his acting debut with a Tamil film titled Poovilangu. He earned a good name with that film, but he could not sustain it for long.

The actor later made his debut in Kannada film industry. He tried his luck with films like Prem Parva, Sambavami Yuge Yuge, Ajay Vijay, Prem Gange and others. Finally he got the much-needed break with Ajay Vijay.

Murali acted in nearly 100 movies both in Kannada and Tamil. He was popularly known for his performance in Puthu Vasantham. Some of his hit movies are Idhayam, Thanga Manusukkaran and Porkkaalam.

Murali was mostly seen in supporting characters in the later part of his career. He won Best Actor Award from Tamil Nadu State Government for his role in Bharathiraja's Kadal Pookkal in the year 2001. He was last seen in his son Athava's debut film Baana Kaathadi.

We at Oneindia express our condolences to his family. May his soul rest in peace!
