Bangalore, Apr 30: Tamil actress Ranjitha, whose name hit the headlines in Mar 2010 on claims that she was the woman seen in the sex tape of Swami Nithyanada, has now come out to say that she is not the one in the sleaze tape.
Besides making this claim almost two months after the sex tape hit the airwaves, the actress has also sent legal notices to Google and Youtube seeking removal of all the video clip of the tape from the websites within 72 hours. If the websites do not take the required steps within the given time, Ranjitha has threatened to file criminal and civil suits against them.
“We have asked them to remove the controversial video clippings from the websites by May 2, failing which we will file charges against them under the Indian Penal Code and the Information Technology Act," Ranjitha's laywer, Prashant Mendiratta, told a newspaper.
Alleging that a 'body double' was used in the tape, the lawyer added, “My client is not a devotee of Nithyananda but has met him. The allegations that she has signed the non-disclosure agreements are false and malicious. It is not Ranjitha in the tape. The entire tape is edited and will not stand as evidence in a court of law. The entire controversy has devastated her."
When asked about Nithyananda's statements indicating that Ranjitha was the woman seen performing sexual acts in the tape, the lawyer questioned, “If Nithyananda is not in the tape how can he vouch for the lady in it?"
In an interview with a TV channel in Mar 2010, the tainted godman had said that Ranjitha was taking care of him and serving him while he was down with a sickness. The actress has also denied reports that she appeared before the Karnataka Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in connection with the ongoing investigations on the slew of criminal charges slapped against the godman.
Lenin Kuruppan, the former disciple of Nithyananda who exposed the godman's criminal activities, may also be facing a defamation case from Ranjitha.
