Tamil Nadu is gearing up to celebrate the Pongal festival in the second week of January and Kollywood filmmakers too do not want to lose the opportunity to cash in on the festive season. Now filmmakers have decided to postpone their movie releases, which were supposed to hit theaters in the month of December.
However, this is only true for the big budget movies. On the other hand, some small films are releasing in December itself as they do not want to compete with the biggies at the box office. But movie buffs, who had planned to spend Christmas by watching movies do not need to feel disappointed. The second version of Ram Gopal Varma"s Rakta Charitra will hit screens on the 3rd of December. And other movie, which are hitting the theaters are Kamal Haasan starrer Manmadhan Ambu and the much awaited Chikku Bukku.
The Vijay–Asin starrer romantic film Kaavalan has landed in trouble over overseas distribution rights and therefore has to abide by the orders of the Madras High Court, which has stalled the film"s release in countries other than India by six weeks. While Kaavalan may safely be released in India in December as scheduled, reports claim that it has also been postponed to the January Pongal slot. Hence it will be a cinematic treat for Tamil Nadu fans this festive season.
