Ayan, the only blockbuster for 2009

In the year 2009, Kollywood experienced the highest number of film releases ie; 131 and out of these films there were 19 films that commercially turned out profitable to its producers. According to the trade sources, this is the highest number of films released in a year for nearly two decades. But compare with the hits ratio, 2008 seen more hits (24) than 2009.

AVM produced, Sun Pictures Ayan is the biggest hit of the year 2009. The Sasikumar starrer Nadodigal emerged as a super hit among small and medium budget movies.
