The 'encroachment' complaint erupted in Vijayakanth's 403 acres of farm land in Madhuranthagam, 80 kms from Chennai. Following complaints of encroachment by the farm of 28 acres of government land voiced by local people, the DMDK chief has been served a notice by Natarajan, the Tehsildar of Madhuranthagam Taluk to return the encroached land to the government before March 5. The notice has also been pasted on the entrance to the farm that has electric fencing surrounding it.
[an error occurred while processing this directive] At present, some of the DMDK supporters escorts the entrance of the farm land and not allowing any one to take photographs of the land.
After launching his own political party, Vijayakanth has been under pressure from both the ruling DMK, its allies and the opposition AIADMK. A marriage hall owned by him at Koyambedu was already demolished by the government citing traffic reasons.
The AIADMK leadership is launching a frontal attack on Vijayakanth for laying claim to the legacy of late leader MGR.
