Will Rajini take part in hunger strike?

Rajinikanth
This is the only question rounds in Kodambakkam after the declaration of powerful Tamil Films Producers Council and Nadigar Sangam for a hunger strike on Thursday April 4th against the Kannada Chauvinists' violence over the Tamils and Tamil Films.

On Tuesday evening the TFPC has directly issued an order saying that Tamil Superstar Rajinikanth, who has his strong roots in Bangalore, should take part in the fasting and show his 'sympathy and loyalty' with the Tamils.

The Council has also made it clear that other Tamil actors and technicians, who have Kannada origin like 'Action King' Arjun, director Prabhu Deva, Prakash Raj, Murali, Raju Sundaram and his father Sundaram Master should also take part in the one-day token fast.

Rama Narayanan, the President of the Council said in his circular: "The Tamil Film Industry will observe fasting as a token of showing our solidarity and condemnation to the attacks on Tamils by Pro-Kannada outfits in Karnataka on the Hogenakkal issue on April 4 in Chennai the attack. All must be attended the fast without fail and all the activities of the Film Industry will be canceled on the day to make them convenient to attend the fasting."

On his part Sarath Kumar, the Nadigar Sangam President said that the Tamil Film Industry and Tamils in Karnataka were the most affected. He added that all technicians and artists of Tamil Film Industry, who have Karnataka origin must also participate in the Friday (April 4) protest, failure of which would lead to non-cooperation from the Film Industry.

This seems like Council and Sangam are targeting Rajinikanth once again.

It may be recalled that a few years back the Tamil Film Industry got divided over the Cauvery issue. In 2002 October 12, Nadigar Sangam under Vijaykanth staged a strong protest rally on the Cauvery issue in front of Neyveli Power Station.

All leading Tamil Cinema stars participated in the Neyveli rally except the Superstar, who conducted his own fasting in style on the very next day near Marina beach in Chennai. Almost all the leading actors had attended the fasting too and proved their loyalty and support to the Superstar.

At that time Rajini slammed out at his colleagues openly by saying that what their protests could achieve in Cauvery issue, even that couldn't be solved by the Apex Court, and top authorities of the country. Nobody has the answer for that and kept a mum.

He told that Nationalization of Rivers can be the only solution to solve this kind of inter-state river disputes and declared that he would be ready to give Rs.1 crore to Nationalization of Rivers in the country, if the Govt. came out with any such project immediately.

Also He gave an explanation for his solo fasting that that was only performed for the sake of the life of over 5 million Tamilians living in Bangalooru and Karnataka. Finally, Rajini won in that battle and his image among the public also considerably increased as reported by Loyola College Surveys.

Now nearly six years after that incident once again, the Superstar is again compelled by the Council and Sangam to prove his sympathy and loyalty to the state that made him as a legend and the Superstar of Indian Cinema.

At present he is busy with the shooting of his forthcoming film Kuselan in Hyderabad. Will Rajinikanth participate in the fasting and prove his loyalty towards Nadigar Sangam and TFPC?

Just wait for a day.
