Lights on:Tamil Cinema:Action

The lightsmen and technicians union strike had brought to a halt all film shootings in the Tamil film industry. However of late it has been called off without any further hike in their payment.

When the apex body of Tamil film industry FEFSI, threatened to bring new men from outside the state, the association surrendered immediately without any conditions.

FEFSI's intervention broke the strike, and by Saturday evening the lights were once again switched on and film shootings were resumed.

Ramanarayanan, President of Tamil Film Producers Council has assured the union that their grievances would be taken care of in the coming days.
 

MACTA crisis eyes solution

The crisis in the Malayalam film industry seems to be resolving, when the warring factions (MACTA led by director Vinayan and MAMTA led by director Siddique) have agreed to hold fresh elections to the MACTA Federation within three months. Director Vinayan, general secretary of MACTA, today welcomed the decision to conduct a fresh election in the MATCA federation within three months, as an attempt to resolve the present crisis in the Malayalam film industry at the meeting convened by the Indian Film Employees Confederation (IFEC) and Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI) in Chennai on Wednesday.
