Baazigar
Shahrukh Khan's yesteryear Blockbuster Baazigar will speak Tamil soon, with Shakthi, a young and dynamic hero in the lead. Ace director P Vasu has bought the remake rights of the 1993 blockbuster many years before and now he wants to use the same to establish his son strongly. The rest of the cast is yet to be finalised. The film will go on floors after the completion of Rajinikanth starrer Kuselan.

Shakthi was introduced by P Vasu in 2007 amid much fanfare in Thottal Poo Malarum. But the movie did not do well due to an unimpressive script and treatment.

Baazigar, the Hindi original directed by Abbas-Mastan, had Shahrukh playing a negative role and also starred Kajol, Shilpa Shetty and Dalip Tahil. The movie, inspired by the 1991 Hollywood flick A Kiss before dying, established Shahrukh Khan as a superstar in Bollywood.

People please help me out here. For a long time I have been wanting to know about the credibility and originality of P. Vasu’s directorial ventures. Has any of his original (script, story, screenplay) work ever been a commercial success? Am very sure SEENU (karthik - flop), CHANDRAMUKHI (rajini - hit), PARAMASIVAN (ajith - flop) were all remakes. But how about his other works? Are CHINNA THAMBI, WALTER VETRIVEL, NADIGAN, MANNAN, PANAKKARAN, UZHALAIPPAALI his original works? As per Wikipedia, “Velai Kidaichiruchu”, “Udanpirappu”, “Love Birds”, “Mr.Madras”, “Kaakai Chirakiniley”, “Thottal Poo Malarum” were all directed by P. Vasu. They were all huge duds with disastrous results. Which are his original movies that were a hit at the box office?
