The Egmore Court for Economic Offences has ordered actress turned politician Vijayashanthi to appear in the court on August 3rd in a case filed by the Income Tax department.
Vijayashanthi, a popular actress in Telugu and Tamil floated a party by the name of Tally Telengana recently. She is fighting against the state govt. for the bifurcation Andhra Pradesh and creation of a separate Telengana state.
A few months ago, the income tax department had filed a case against the actress at the Chennai Egmore Court for Economic offences for her delayed submission of accounts for the year 2002-03 and 2003-04. The court ordered the actress to appear in person for the entire hearing. The first hearing took place last month, but the actress failed to turn up. Her counsels informed the court that she couldn't attend the hearing due to health problems.
[an error occurred while processing this directive]Yesterday, the case was taken up again for a second hearing before the Justice Premkumar. But this time too, the actress failed to attend the court. When her counsel tried to give an explanation for her absence, the Judge strictly ordered that the actress must attend the next hearing which falls on August 3 rd.
