Chief Minister M.Karunanidhi is known to be proud to be called one of the disciples of Periyar, the father of suppressed people. He is one of the reasons why the great leader's life is being made into a film so that the present younger generation can learn of his contribution to society. Karunanidhi was so enthusiastic about the film that he granted the film an amount of 95 lakh rupees due to which the film was completed in time. Now after the film is made he seems to be stuck onto it.

Karunanidhi has enjoyed the film so mush that has watched it five times - that too before its releases. During the making of the film, he gave his inputs to the director concerning the historical aspects of the film. As a matter of fact, the inclusion of the actual funeral of Periyar was because he suggested it.

Now he has gone one step further. He has seen to it that the film will get a smooth approval certificate from the Censor Board. He will see the film again with Congress Chief Sonia Gandhi when she comes for the felicitation of his 50 years in politics.
