Singer Lady Gaga has a tough image following several controversies around her but she seems to have a soft heart. She could not hold back her tears when she talked about the Japanese tsunami/earthquake that left over 20,000 people dead and thousands homeless.

The “Poker Face" singer, who will perform at Saturday's MTV Video Music Awards Japan, which have been renamed Video Music Aid Japan, expressed her love for the nation yesterday (June 23). “I am always so inspired when I come to Japan, inspired by the spirit, the passion, the love, the absolutely infectious joy of Tokyo," Contactmusic quoted the singer as saying.

Lady Gaga also urged the people around the world to visit the Japan. “I can't say enough to people all over the world that the majority of Japan right now, Japan in general, is very safe. It's fine to come here. It's beautiful. The most important thing, and the best thing, we could do for Japan right now is to boost tourism," she added.

The singer had earlier helped raised $1.5 million (£938,000) for the Japanese tsunami/earthquake victims by selling a special prayer wristband to her fans. She has also designed a T-shirt to raise fund for the cause. “The Japanese Birkin T-shirt I designed for Vogue Japan on sale 6/25 at Uniqlo worldwide. $ (money) goes to Tsunami Relief," she tweeted.
