Singer Katy Perry has finally reached the top spot on Billboard Hot 100 and broken the 53-year record history of the chart. The pop singer has become the first woman to have five number one singles from the same album on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart after Michael Jackson. She says that she owes her devotees for tying the late King of Pop's single record.
Katy Perry received the unprecedented feat through 'Last Friday Night' (T.G.I.F.). She took to her Twitter page to share her excitement. She tweeted, "What a way to wake up! SO proud to announce that the little-engine-that-could of a song 'Last Friday Night' is officially #1 & made HISTORY!"
The 'Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)' hitmaker owed her success to her fans and thanked them for their support. "I couldn't have done it with out ya, really I owe u guys BIG... so take this moment to give yourself a high FIVE!!! #allbecauseofu."
However, comedian Russell Brand's wife is a winner among her equals. Her friends Justin Timberlake and Lady Gaga have four No. 1 singles in 2006's 'FutureSex/LoveSounds' and 2009's 'The Fame' respectively. Now Katy has come one step ahead of those popular stars.
