Bono, lead singer of Irish rock group U2, was 'rescued' along with his assistant by NHL star Gilbert Brule, after he was caught in a heavy downpour near West Vancouver Yacht Club in Canada. The U2 songwriter had been trying to stop a car after getting soaked in the rain while taking a walk with his assistance.

Luckily professional Ice hockey player, Gilbert Brule and his girlfriend Kelsey Nichols were passing by and they offered to give the singer and his buddy a lift. Edmonton Oilers star's girlfriend was quoted by The Edmonton Journal as saying, “I didn"t want to stop, but they waved and G [Brule] yelled 'that"s Bono. I didn"t believe him so I kept driving."

To return the favour, Bono invited couple to his band's concert, which was being held on June 1st in the city's Commonwealth Stadium. During the show, The Edmonton Journal quoted the singer telling the crowd, “I like ice hockey because people who play ice hockey are the kind of people who pick up hitchhikers. I"m ever so grateful. I"ve decided that I want to be Gilbert Brule."

Later, the couple were also given back stage passes signed by the singer, along with the messages, “Thanks for the ride" and “My hero Gilbert Brule".
