Lady Gaga criticised for romanticising suicide

Washington, (ANI): Anti-suicide advocates have criticized pop star Lady Gaga"s performance at MTV Video Music Awards for 'romanticising suicide'.

While performing on song Paparazzi, the 23-year-old singer stunned the audience with her bizarre performance, where she danced with crutches alongside a wheelchair-bound performer, while blood poured down her bare mid-riff.

She later said that her act represented her private life being killed by the paparazzi. However, bosses at the U.K. teen suicide prevention group, Papyrus, were infuriated at branded the star irresponsible.

"This act is not cool - sensationalising and romanticising suicide is irresponsible," Contactmusic quoted a representative for the charity as saying. "Celebrities, who are often idolised by young people, need to be more aware of the impact that such acts can have on vulnerable young people," the rep added.

I am sick of all the me-too groups that use every statement, composition, artwork, book, and video game as a platform for their private agendas. Get over yourselves. Lady Gaga offers a high concept, high production value performance. Anyone deluded enough to kill themselves because of a stage show had deeper issues to begin with. The media needs to start ignoring the me-too choir, its outrage, and if it reports on it, cover the choir's lack of substance.

Oh please. I thought it was actually beautiful. While the song does represent a view of celebrities I see it more as a desperate cry for love. I don't take suicide lightly as I've been there. But if anything romanticizes suicide it's Romeo and Juliet yet we let students study that play in school. They're just nagging at this poing.
