Daltrey laments Pete Doherty's fate

Monday, September 10, 2007

Legendary rock star Roger Daltrey thinks that drink and drug problems may cause beleaguered British rocker Pete Doherty to die young. The Who star has already lost two of his bandmates—drummer Keith Moon and bassist John Entwistle—to drug addiction.

Doherty, frontman of the rock band Babyshambles who made several unsuccessful attempts to quit drugs over the last few years, checked into rehab last month to get over his drug addiction. Daltrey, however, remains pessimistic about Doherty"s latest attempt to deal with his drug problems.

"There's a bathroom floor waiting for him. He seems to have a death wish and that is so incredibly dull - to think that that's a cool and exciting thing," Contactmusic quoted him as saying. "I knew them all - Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix, Brian Jones, Janis Joplin, too many to list - and it's incredible to think they've all gone. I don't think it's any different today - it's a person's own personal journey. It's down to the individual and always has been," he added.
