One of India's most famous classical musicians, Padma Bhusan, Pandit Bhimsen Joshi (89), died at a hospital on Monday morning. He has not only left a vacuum in Indian classical world but in the hearts of his fans. We at Oneindia have been getting constant comments and messages from his fans, who are mourning to the huge loss.

Sharath, one of the fan of Indian classical music and Pandit Bhimsen writes, “Uncrowned emperor of classical music, he leaves a void, which cannot be filled by any. His songs, his classical renderings has left a lingering memory in my mind, which refuses to go away. I am jealous of heaven folks who will be entertained by your music now."

Very true we are jealous of God and heaven as Pt. Bhimsen will now sing to them. Joshi who was born in 1922 in Gadag, Southern Karnataka left home at the age of 11 to pursue his dreams to learn music. He used to pay his ticket fair for the trains by singing to the ticket collectors. Very less people have that much of dedication and power to struggle just to pursue their career.

DR. T. Venugopal salutes this legend by writing, “Bharat Ratna Bhimsen Joshi, a Gala Bheem, a sangeet sena and a voice with full of 'josh' now marched towards Gandharvaas to replace one of them."

Very well said Mr Gopal, he is definitely replaced one of the Ghandharvaas in the heaven. The famous celebrated writer of India, Shobha De, tweeted, “How LUCKY are the Gods in heaven - Bhimsen Joshi will be singing for them. Those of us who heard him live, are truly blessed. Angel of Music, RIP."

Rightly said we have been lucky that we got the opportunity to at least listen him singing and see him performing. The sound of his song 'Mile Sur Mera Tumhara' still lingers in my ears, and I am sure a lot of people feel the same. One more fan Govind wrote to us, “Pandit Bhimsen Joshi was one of the great vocalist and legend. Kirana Gharana has been left with a big vaccum by his demise, may his soul leave in peace."

The world of music has lost one of its rhythm, with the demise of Bharat Ratna Pandit Bhimsen Gururaj Joshi. We at Oneindia pray for his soul rest in peace.

No doubt Pt Bhimsen Joshi is the greatest exponent of Hindustani classical music and his demise has created a void which can not be filled in the future .This is really a National loss, yet his unique creations would live for ever. But with due respect to this legendary genius I regret to digest the bitter fact that he dserted his wedded wife and four children , he abandoned social & family responsibility .He committed an unethical and unlawful act that he married his disciple Vatsala Mudholkar...

As a layman to music I have always remembered the musical maestro Pandit Joshi as the maiden singer of "Mile Sur Mera Tumhara" since my childhood and as a prime organizer of a legendary Musical Festival of Sawai Gandharva in Pune, which is a pride of cultural heritage of Pune.
