Indian Classical music concert at Michigan University

Indian classical music has reached overseas and the artists of the country have been well accepted there as well. The University Of Michigan, Center for South Asian Studies has taken one more step forward inrecognizing the Indian classical music form and has invited the renowned vocalist Sugata Marjit from India to perform.

The University has organized an Indian classical music concert titled “Sangeet Sandhya" at the Britton Recital Hall of the North Campus, on Friday at 8 pm. Sugata will perform here accompanied by John Churchville on the tabla and Mandar Phadke on the harmonium.

The evening is dedicated to the Indian classical raga music and spiritual bhajans. A reception with the artists will be held at 7 p.m. The show is open to the public with no entry fee.

The Center for World Performance Studies is co-sponsoring of the event.
