Asha Bhosle humiliates Raj Thackeray

When Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan said 'Mumbai belongs to all Indians", he received flak from the Shiv Sena. Industrialist Mukesh Ambani and cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar were meted with the same treatment for their statement that 'Mumbai is for all Indians'. But when legendary singer Asha Bhosle made the same statement, nobody dared to speak out.

It is reported that the incident happened at an event Swar-Asha in Pune, organised by Mi Marathi channel. Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray praised Asha in his speech that she has sung songs in different languages and that people from all part of the country accepted the songs as their own because she is a Marathi.

However, Asha snubbed him later. On being asked about the contribution of the migrants coming to the city, the legendary singer replied that 'Hindustan belongs to all' and people are bound to flock to Mumbai. She added that no one can snatch away the job of a man who works in the city from morning to evening. She went on to say that Maharashtrians should also work hard.

Raj Thackeray didn"t react to her statement so did MNS spokesperson Shrish Parkar, who said that he had nothing to say on the statement, though it is completely contrast to MNS ideology. It may be mentioned that Asha is close to both Raj and his uncle Bal Thackeray, chief of Shiv Sena.

Well, it's a humiliation for the Thackerays because someone close to them have gone against their main ideology, and that too in public!
