Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna, Fanaa and Gangster rules the past weeks music charts. Trailing in after them comes the soundtrack of the Superhero flick Krrish. Himesh Reshammiya takes the next with the soundtrack of Ahista Ahista and then with 36 China Town, tenth on the list. Rang De Basanti is fighting out strong followiing Ahista Ahista at the sixth position. It is has been the longest on teh charts and seems to be a keeper. The charts latest newcomer Pyaar Ke Side Effects has debuted at a good No. 7

Rank Last week Film Plusses Minuses
New KANK As expected, KANK tops the charts within a week of the official launch of music. Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and Javed Akhtar belt a musical score that has all the ingredients of a score suited for a Karan Johar film. Melodies, dance floor numbers, situational tracks - it has it all! Detractors say that the strength of the music is its weakness i.e. the music is highly predictable and follows the same old routine of a Johar/Chopra soundtrack. Well, global audience wanted exactly that and majority is a satisfied lot
1 Fanaa Just like the box office collections, the album sales of the film also fall; though not due to 'Phir Hera Pheri' but the arrival of 'KANK'. The biggest productions houses in Bollywood, Yash Raj Films and Dharma Productions, continue to rule! Remix version if 'Chand Sifarish', 'Fanaa For You' could be better promoted with added visuals from the film
2 Gangster Even though Vishesh Films' 'The Killer' has arrived, it is their 'Gangster' that continues to be at the Top. Pritam has reasons to cheer since his 'Pyaar Ke Side Effects' has entered the charts as well Quality wise none!
3 Krrish Now is the time that could be decisive for the album sales of 'Krrish'. The film has released and normally the sales show an upward trend. Will the same hold good for 'Krrish' too? With KANK embarking on a great start, new entry 'Ahista Ahista' just a being a place down and PKSE showing promise, the place of Krrish is in danger. Meanwhile upcoming albums 'Golmaal' and 'Anthony Kaun Hai' carry a chartbuster appeal too!
New Ahista Ahista This Himesh Reshammiya album with a relatively new cast and moderate publicity has made an impressive entry at No. 5 on the charts. If there is a Reshammiya album after 'Aksar' that has impressed most, it is 'Ahista Ahista'. With a great soundtrack to boast, it has only way to go in the charts - UP! None. And those who don't swear by Reshammiya even till date are hardly enough in number to be accounted for!
4 Rang De Basanti The oldest album in the charts, it is still going strong as it works North and South, East and West. Rehman comes up with a universal score that breaks all cultural and regional boundaries None. It's as classy as it gets within commercial boundaries
New PKSE Surprise of the week!! Within 2 days of its release, it has found a place in the Top-10 charts, and that too in spite of a controlled publicity. Pritam strikes again, this time with a hip-hop soundtrack Beyond 2-3 hip-hop tracks, there is not much to write home about. Now everything depends upon how far these tracks go
8 Tu Hi Meri Shab Hai - Top 12 Love Ballads Bottom of the charts has 2 compilations in a row. 'Tu Hi Meri Shab Hai' gets some of the best love songs from this year and latter half of last year [Gangster, Kalyug, Bluffmaster etc.] None
7 Everybody on dance floor - Session 2 Reshammiya dominates numerous compilations of his recent songs and 'Everybody on the dance floor-Session 2' is one of them. Though officially it is not a Reshammiya compilation with a few songs from other films as well but when the song list reads 'Aksar', 'Tom Dick and Harry', 'Humko Deewana Kar Gaye' and 'Aap Ka Surroor', you know who the music company is relying upon! None
5 36 China Town Second album from Himesh Reshammiya [after Ahista Ahista] to find a place in the charts, it is now looking down the barrel after passing away of 'Aashique' wave The album drops heavily due to release of new albums and all doors have now been closed on its publicity. The album is now breathing its last!
