Lokpal, directed by Joshiey and starring Mohanlal, Kavya Madhavan and Manoj K Jayan in the lead is a political action thriller. This is Mohanlal's first film to be released this year, and the superstar doesn't let his fans down. Mohanlal in various get ups is the USP of the film.
Cinematography by Pradeep Nair is praiseworthy as the camera takes many angle and closeups. Dialogues could have been more effective considering that it's a thriller with superstar Mohanlal in the lead. Script by SN Swamy is good, but could have been more hard hitting. Music by Tatheesh Vega is average. Another 'minus' in Lokpal is that the film lacks humour and that adds to the lack lustre of the movie. The climax is not enticing enough and leaving you with a feeling that it could have been better.
Lokpal narrates the story of a man who fights against corruption in the society. Mohanlal (Nandagopal) runs Nadoos foodcourt, popular for its excellent cuisine. However, apart from running a foodcourt, Nandu runs a secret tirade against smugglers and tax evaders. The different ways that he adopts to fight the smugglers form the highlight of the film.
Mohanlal is undoubtedly the 'star of the show' and steals the cake. He performs his role with utmost ease and conviction. Kavya Madhavan is pretty as usual and fits her role brilliantly. Manoj K Jayan sleepwalks through the movie. Saikumar and Shami Thilakan have done a commendable role. Meera Nandan has nothing substantial to do in the movie.
Lokpal is worth a one-time watch - and that too only because of Mohanlal.
