Buddy, scripted and directed by Raaj Prabhavathy Menon, hit the screens today after a week's delay. This Anoop Menon starred flick is not going to make one cringe in the seat due to its over usage of double entendre and taboo words, or in other words, we can say it is loaded with it.

Asha Sharath, popular for her role as professor Jayanthi in Kumkumapoovu, gets a meaty role in this film. She plays the role of an English writer in the film, who leads a peaceful life with her friend Dr Padma (Bhoomika Chawla) and her son Vishnu (Mithun Murali). He consider both of them as his mother, though he is born after an artificial insemination. But he is not interested to know who is his father and mother.

But as time flew, Vishnu becomes anxious to know about his father. And with the little information shared by his mothers, he set out in search of his father. The movie then takes you to Ooty where we are introduced to Maanikunju (Anoop Menon). He is a person who tries to be detached from all and spends time only with friends. Vishnu asks him to accept him as his son, but he consider him as his Buddy as he is too scared to take up the responsibility of a father.

After that a spate of meaningless scenes follows. The climax ends up in a melodrama. The guest appearance of Lal and Tamil actor Srikanth gives the movie a predictable ending. All the actors have performed well, but the script is filled with scenes that seems to be a crooked up one.

Anoop Menon's Look As Maanikunju

Anoop Menon as Maanikunju, is seen with a new look in this movie when compared to his earlier films. Though he had done a father's role earlier, this will be his first, who considers his so-called son as Buddy.

Asha Sharath Gets A Break

Though she is more popular in Television, Asha Sharath has been successful to make a come back to film industry through this movie. She is a professionally trained dancer, who is settled in Dubai with her family.

Bhoomika Makes A Come Back

After romancing Mohanlal in Bhramaram, Bhoomika Chawla has made a come back through Buddy. Bhramaram, directed by Blessy, also had her playing the mother of a baby girl.

Positives

The music by Navneeth Sunder is very pleasing, and the cinematography done by Prakash Kutty is also appreciating. It is a complete new generation movie. It makes the come back of Balachandra Menon in the industry. Babu Anthony is seen trying to enact comedy. Mithun Murali gets a good start.

Negatives

The movie has nothing new to offer. There is lack of novelty in the story. It shows a lack in scripting and also in direction. The film lack moments and so feels dragging.
