Casanova – Movie Review

Friday, January 27, 2012, 11:38 [IST]
A lot was expected from Mohanlal's Casanova since it was one of the most expensive film made in the Malayalam film industry. However, one can't help but remark that Casanova, directed by Roshan Andrews fails to live up to the high expectations set by the audience.

While the filmmakers have shelled out lots of money on the breathtakingly beautiful locales and choppers, it would have been better if more significance was given to the script of Casanova!

Even the glamorous looking babes in short and skimpy clothes could not save Casanova from the disastrous plot of the film.

Mohanlal is seen romancing and dancing around with young girls and that seems quite strange. One can't help but wonder why the superstar, who is one of the finest actor in the Malayalam film industry can't do a more strong and performance oriented role that suits his age!

Story

The story of Casanova unfolds in Dubai where Casanova, (Mohanlal) who is an international flower trader comes to charm the girls. The rich and glamorous playboy has everything going right for him. During one of his visits, Casanova happens to meet a group of four (Arjun, Abhishek, Vikram and Shamsi), who are involved in a robbery. The Interpol is trying hard to grab the four. However, our Casanova has a score to settle with the friends.

Using two beautiful girls named Hanna (Lakshmi Rai) and Ann Mary (Roma), Casanova decides to get back at them. Casanova then begins to host a TV show and all his tricks succeed in creating a rift between the four friends.

It is later revealed that Casanova was once in love with a salsa dancer named Sameera (Shriya Saran). She was the only girl he truly loved.

Performance

Mohanlal is undoubtedly good. However, owing to the weak script, the superstar is unable to show much of his talent. There is absolutely no chemistry between Mohanlal and Shriya Saran. The other actors in Casanova have given an average performance. Script by Bobby and Sanjay is average. Music by Alphonse, Gopi Sundar and Gowri is nice.

Watch Casanova only if you love Mohanlal and for the beautiful locales and visuals by Jim Ganesh.

Director: Roshan Andrews
Producer: Confident Group, Aashirwad Cinemas
Cast: Mohanlal, Shriya Saran, Lakshmi Rai, Sanjana

Under label of 'new generation' youths malayalam movies are now showing rock music with girl's dancing in disco pubs, trying to arouse desires in ppl in form of greed for money thru wrong means of crimes & quick ways of cheating ppl, trying to open up lustful feelings among youth by creating fleshly desires of opposite sex, showing more violence and using guns and trying to remove fear of death among youth and influencing the youth to live a loose lifestyle without fear of God. SEE THINK DO GOOD

Such films are trying to remove the fear of God and increase of evil in lives of ppl. Even trailers of such movies are tempting ppl with bar dances disco songs in pubs rock music on Tv with families viewing? The difference in character of Indians vs Westerners where is Indians God fearing attitude and importance to moral values gone? Encouraging youth to sin , making them loose fear of God law and higher authorities removing guilt feelings of wrong doings and weakening moral side of you ppl

what is wrong with Disco and Rock songs? :O :O film is utter crap i agree, but saying this film temps people to listen to rock music on TV itself is crap. i don't think there is anything wrong with rock music :D and I don't think we will have to fear god as god is there to protect us , not punish. :)

Mr Jaz you can google on "effects of rock music on society brain mind youth" see the negative effects on behavior studies are conducted research done. Also if you fear God then you will stop doing SIN in your life and keep away from thinking and doing evil then only you can do good in life and be conscious of SIN in life and society going on also majority rock musicians use drugs alcohol and lifestyle is bad also.

movies are spoiling the morality of the society and influencing the youth in a negative manner and will ultimately result in spreading more evil in society by making the youths to think and do wrong deeds tempting them by showing them a lifestyle of alcohol drinking smoking & and dancing with foreign woman as fun but they hide the negative consequences like diseases related with such lifestyle be it liver / lung cancer alcohol addiction and AIDS which people end up in their later stage of life

Mr.George you were sleeping till the CASANOVA got released....boss is it the only film showing glamour, alcohol and so on?....U r a representative of people who keeps a pseudo morality attitude....or evry body s tryin 2 b a moral police....if u tynk tys movie will spoil kerala people...i must tel u tat te keralites already spoilt.....c hw much mony tose oter langauge pictures r makin from kerala n which no logic nd story s tere only glamour nd action....c wat AGNEEPATH has given 2 a society....
George 17 Feb 2012 03:09 pm
Mr.Justin can you think how you will watch bar dances disco songs in pubs rock music shown in Casonova trailer again again on Tv in front of families audience viewing it in their homes? The sad part is bad effects & influence of such movies will continue to affect ppl after theatres nowadays due to increase in satellite channels which repeat such songs again and later buy rights and show such movies on TV and also the DVD's sold reach out to more youths & spoil them after all what message is
