Ayur Rekha is an investigative thriller, which revolves around a murder mystery. The movie begins with the sudden death of Dr. Aparna, wife of Dr. Venugopal. She had been staying with her only son since the time she parted her ways from her husband. The lady also owns a successfully-run hospital.
Her sudden demise puts everyone under suspicion. Was her death a suicide or murder? Why should she be murdered? S.P. Jacob George, who takes the resposibilty to find the real truth, reopens the case which was earlier classifed as a suicide and closed.
Investigative thrillers have always been well-received in Malayalam films. Ayur Rekha by director G.M. Manu stars Sreenivasan in the role of Jacob George, Superintendent of Police. Urvashi as his wife, Nedumudi Venu as Captain Nair, administrative officer of the hospital, Salimkumar as a cop, Niyas as sub-inspector, Mukesh as music director cum singer, and Jagathy Sreekumar as a medical representative, Indrajith and Jyothirmayi as doctors also form part of the cast.
The movie, based on a story by K.K. Sudhakaran, has script and dialogues penned by Dennis Joseph. Sabeesh George scores the music for songs penned by O.N.V. Kurup.
